Just a Gen X girl in the world

About

Me:  Please, please don’t make me.

Him:  Come on, you’ve got to go to school.

Me: No, I don’t want to. The principal hates me and the kids are mean.

Him:  Kellie, you’re the teacher.  You have to go.

Variation on a very bad joke, but it was a far less exaggerated journey that has led me to making a lifestyle change to start this blog and concentrate on my writing.

Why Gen X Journey?  I think that we are the most undervalued generation.  It’s all about the baby boomers and those demanding Gen Yers.  Well Gen X it’s our time.  Already Gen Xers are moving into positions of power and influence and we need a presence.

We’re a generation coping with change, with finding a work life balance, of being the sandwich generation with children and dependent parents.  We’re coping with ageing, technology, financial difficulties and finding our place in the world.  We’re perfectly poised for a mid life crisis but there’s no red Ferrari in our immediate plans–there’s just no time.

So some things about me that will in no way enrich you life.

  • I drink far too much the occasional wine
  • I think champagne is a food group
  • I am happily married
  • I am trying to lose the weight I put on when I had the baby
  • The baby is 18
  • The principal liked me
  • The kids weren’t mean

Enjoy the journey.

    I love this, Kellie!
I’m in the house with a boomer, another gen Xer, a millennial, and one in a generation yet to be named (let’s default to Z).
AND…I work at a university and that dynamic is well…interesting.
I look forward to reading more…yay!
