Whoopi Golberg and John Jarratt defend Mel Gibson. John who?

Another day, another Mel Gibson rant. It hasn’t been his week has it? Actually it hasn’t really been his century.

So unless you have been trekking the Himalayas without wireless access for the last few weeks, you will be fully aware of the taped conversations between Mel Gibson and his girlfriend. To be frank he behaves appallingly threatening violence, espousing racism and generally behaving like an arsehole.

Anyway Mel has friends in high places and his good mate Whoopi Goldberg has jumped to his defence saying that in her experience he is not a racist. Isn’t that lovely that someone like Whoopi Goldberg would come to his defence?

He’s also been defended by John Jarratt. John who you ask. You know that really creepy bloke who was the lead in Wolf Creek? Can’t stand him. Used to be married to Noni Hazlehurst. No? Does that ocker Aussie bloke thing? No, still can’t place him? No problem most people can’t. Anyway John Jarratt, in his infinite wisdom, has gone an entirely different tack to Whoopi and said that “despicable person in this is the woman“. This is the extract from Perth Now.

The despicable person in this is the woman, who has disgustingly taped this guy because he’s extremely famous and tried to ruin his life,” Jarratt said. She has taped an argument they are having in an acrimonious split – something that happened behind closed doors – and he’s been made a mockery of. It’s disgusting.”
“It’s not like he has come out in public and said all these nasty things. He was drunk! like none of us have been?”

Of course that excuses everything–poor Mel was drunk. I’ve been known to be drunk on occasion and I don’t think I’ve ever dissolved into a racist rant or the use of fuck in such a creative fashion.

My favourite Jarratt quote from the interview was this.

If my daughter went into the Outback in a pair of hot pants, I would say, ‘Be careful you don’t get raped by a bunch of rednecks’. That doesn’t mean everyone in the Outback is a redneck.”

Nor does it mean that every girl who wears hot pants is deserving of rape. Perhaps John Jarratt is still playing his part from Wolf Creek. He was really evil in that movie, but I may have said that already.

Anyway I’ve got a mash up of one of Mel’s rants mashed up with temper tantrum throwing Christian Bale’s wobbly from the Terminator set. If you’re in your office you’d better turn the volume down so your boss can’t hear the many ways that fuck has been injected into the conversation–might look a bit unprofessional.

Gosh I wouldn’t like to get these two on the booze together, would you? Image

It will be tough for mel to recoup from this. It could actually be the start towards the end of his long carreer. What can I say, he had it coming!
