Found a marvellous blog the other day. It’s called Middle Agelessand is written by the eternally lovely Rosine. It deals with all those pressing needs for “anyone who’s reached 40 and wants to stay there”.
So here a few Q and A’s lifted from the blog about beauty for the pudenda (I’m all about anatomically correct names for this post). So anything you’ve wanted to know about how old is too old for a Brazilian to premature balding of the pubes can be found here.
Q: “It is turning/has turned grey, can I color it?”
A. Yes. Just be careful to keep the color away from the mucous membranes. You can use body bleach as well. Betty is a line of hair color especially formulated for down there. It comes in a variety of tones including Hot Pink.
Q: “Will the eyelash growth product work down there?”
A. It probably would although this would be “off label.” Worth a shot if baldness really bothers you. Why not get a Brazilian and pretend you are hair-free on purpose?
Q. “I have lost so much hair below the waist since menopause. Is there such a thing as a pubic hairpiece?”
A. Yes. It’s called a merkin. The lovely Kate Winslet wore one in the Oscar-winning The Reader. Kate told Allure Magazine that to be consistent with the times, “I had to grow the hair down there. But because of years of waxing, as all of us girls know, it doesn’t come back quite the way it used to. They even made me a merkin because they were so concerned that I might not be able to grow enough.”
Although I have looked around for a place to recommend, I can’t find one that sells serious merkins. Merkinworld in the UK (where else?) sells a variety of wild and wonderful pieces, shaped like hearts, or portraying cats or the Union Jack. They do have a phone # listed and will custom-make a merkin for your precise needs. Image
