I remember you

Did you see the man on TV the other day? The one who memorised the Yellow Pages. Pointless I know when there’s such a thing a Google, but still it’s pretty impressive.

I’m one of those weird people who remember names not faces, preferably a name I’ve seen written down. It’s weird because most people can remember faces not names. This means that I am obviously in possession of a more advanced thought process than most. Not really, because it brings me unstuck all the time because really how often do you see people’s names written down when you meet them.

Anyway this man on TV could remember a whole deck of cards, in order. Not really sure where that skill applies but it was impressive. I’d like to be able to count cards so I could go to the casino and win lots of money. I’d probably get caught and dragged off in the back of a black car where I’d be driven out to the desert and killed execution style, but wow, wouldn’t that be a good thing to be able to do–card counting that is, not being killed execution style.

So when I discovered this link to test my memory I had to give it a go. I did OK, better than average and that surprised me. I think it had something to do with the stories I was attaching to the people’s faces in the test. Things like Bob Marley wannabe, refugee girl, Iranian sheep herder and the like.

Click here for the link and see how you do. I’m going to practice so I can start my card counting career.  Image
