The week’s hot weather killed all my mint so no mojito today. Instead a cold glass of sparkling Moet is in order.
Did you know that it’s actually pronounced mo’wett (sort of swallow the o)?
Now I’ll give you a heads up on this. When you are chatting to others and you pronounce Moet correctly others will just look at you in a kindly manner and say nothing while others will say it’s pronounced mo-aye (you idiot-implied, not stated).
I know this to be true as it has happened to me on occasion. So stick to your guns and explain that although Moet is a French champagne and yes you would normally not pronounce the t, the difference is that the name Moet is Dutch, hence the different pronunciation.
Oh now you sound just like a wine wanker.
Cheers!
