What’s going on in Home and Away?

My life’s complete, Home and Away is back on for the year. Oh how I’ve missed you.

But Summer Bay is not as I remember it. There are all these big landscape shots of the hospital which is as big as Rockhampton Base Hospital. Perhaps they’re giving Summer Bay a touch of the metropolis. My how you’ve grown.

I always thought Summer Bay hospital was pretty small what with Rachel the registrar always being there to treat random stabbings, shootings and dehydrated boat people.

Yes that’s right. Summer Bay is now the nexus of people smuggling. Who knew that that was even possible being so far down the coast and all. That Australian’s customs must be just plain useless missing those people on all those thousands of miles of coastline.

Actually I think the H&A writers are as over the whole thing as I am because they have brought a six month story line to a two night conclusion complete with flashbacks (to fill it in for those of us who can’t keep up) with nary an Alf or Leah in sight. There’s not been one scene of teenage angst. Is this Home and Away or 24? Bring back drug issues, date rape, dead spouses and underage sex I say.

Oops did I mention drugs? I think the Home and Away writers might just stay away from the drug issue because one of the Home and Away stars went though court on Monday (ironically the day that Home and Awaywent back on air). No it wasn’t Martha (Jodi Gordon she of the hiding out from a marauding gang in a bikie’s house–even H&Ascriptwriters couldn’t have dreamt that one up), it was Aden (Todd Lasance) who showed up for court for cocaine possession. Silly boy. I’m so disappointed in him. Imagine destroying that lovely body (or more specifically that lovely nose) with cocaine.

Poor Todd was in a real pickle as he  left H&A to head to the bright lights of Hollywood to join the likes of other Aussie ex-H&Astars such as Guy Pearce, Russell Crowe, Isla Fisher and Ryan Kwantan.

And Todd was a fair chance of making it there because he is a mighty fine looking boy. In fact I used to call him Aden-Get-Your-Shirt-Off. And you know what, he mostly did. He was forever taking his shirt off. Have a look at that picture. See what I mean. Mighty Fine.

Anyway a drug charge was not going to make Todd/Aden’s passage to Hollywood easy as it was highly likely they would tell him to get lost, they already have enough druggies without importing them.

However the kindly judge  gave Todd/Aden a good behaviour bond so if he’s a good boy for 12 months the conviction will be quashed.

The kindly judge also delivered some words of wisdom to our errant star saying gems such as the following

it’s all about you isn’t it

you’re in the entertainment industry but I don’t feel entertained by your conduct

Ooooh, pay!

Maybe more a cranky judge than a kindly judge. I’d be hanging my head in shame if I were you Todd/Aden. But can you take your shirt off while you’re doing it?

    Stupid, stupid boy.

Wasn’t there all that stuff in the paper a while back saying that coke culture was part of H&A

Now Jodi Gordon is leaving H&A. Oh my goodness, it’s an exodus. And just when I was starting to think her teeth looked normal.
