It was pretty shit, Sherlock

Hankering for a night at the flicks, I took the boy to a man friendly movie–Sherlock Holmes.  Love Robert Downey Jnr, love that cheating cad Jude Law, love Sherlock Holmes, the cleverest detective in town (or London anyway) and love, love, love our local Dendy cinema because it lets you drink wine, champagne, etc in the cinema.  So civilised.

So you want to know about the movie, I presume.

Expected, Sherlock observant and deductive.  Unexpected, Sherlock is irresponsible, a drunk and a bare knuckle fighter.  Robert Downey Jnr, you have an amazing body for someone who as abused it so.

Expected. Watson, a doctor.  Unexpected an chronic gambler and no dill.  Hmmm.  Jude kept his shirt on (sob) so no comment about his appearance (except the moustache was a bit too 70’s porn star for my liking).

So quickly, flawed Holmes uses his brilliant deductive skills to solve a mystery shrouded in black magic orchestrated by a very bad man (surprisingly not Moriarty who only has a cameo).  Rachel McAdams is Irene Adler, main purpose to look pretty and contribute very little to the plot except for the compulsory girl in distress at the end (and that’s not giving anything away–of course you knew it was going to happen). At least she doesn’t scream too much, unlike that ridiculous woman in Indiana Jones to whom I wanted to deliver a good, hard slap.

The verdict–weird, ok, too clever for words.

Rating: wait till it comes out on video.
